Last Boat Ride of this Trip-maybe of the Summer?!

Our toys, some old (Rasta Van) some newer (Boat and Airstream)!
Richard loves being on the water ... he is very relaxed behind the wheel of the boat! I, on the other hand, can be seen clutching the sides when the boat lifts off as we speed at nearly 50 Miles (!)PH across the water! You don't want to see a picture of that!
It was a calm day but still we were airborne many times and Richard just smiles!

Green, green, algae laden waters this year.

Richard had to install our own cleats on the dock this year...look how neatly he belays the cleat!

The boat is now up on dry land again and we are getting it ready for the drive home to Ottawa. We had one last ride today and it may be the last of the season. The water here in Col By Lake and the adjoining Rideau canal is green with algae, the worst I have ever seen it! It looked like we were careening over an oil slick and we thought of the Gulf of Mexico and how that might look something the same near the source - slippery and soupy! Here it must have been the very warm weather that bloomed so much algae...

Cool Nights and Sunny Days At Perdido Key

We have been having some cool nights around 2 Celsius 38F here at the beach and with all the rain we have also been having we are seriously considering moving somewhere warmer...We are so torn because we love it here with the river on one, and the Gulf on the other, side of us. The park here (Playa Del Rio) is so small that we have a real sense of community going also.

Yesterday we had a fifth wheel and it's three occupants (including a little dachshund) from Tennessee leave because they were not looking forward to the forecast! We also had Scott and Theresa return as work campers! Scott and Theresa have a big MCI Bus motor home with air brakes and a diesel engine and they have two cats. Reggie is smitten by one of their big cats...not sure why exactly but such is "puppy love".

Check out Playa Del Rio (http://www.playadelrio.com/) or Perdido Key (www.visitflorida.com/Perdido_Key) to see where we are...

As we drove on the Beach boulevard today we say six fishing boats of various sizes out on the gulf close to shore fishing so I am sure that Richard and I will head out with his tall poles later today when it warms up. Perhaps another Pompano day!

Busy Busy Busy!!!

Time flies when you are having fun and keeping busy as has been our life of late. It has been a while since I posted anything since we have been busy with the grandchildren, the house renovations, the garage sale prep, the visits from Alabamians and life in general! In this post I am sharing some summer fun but also lamenting over the fact that the summer is flying by and we will soon be thinking of heading south again. We have not even put the boat in the water this year so I have posted some shots her of it from last year and if we get it out this week I shall return with new pics.

Here is a shot of Brooklyn learning to row at the cottage with her daddy looking on, one of Brooklyn with her Auntie Louise's Doll from 25 years ago and one of both Payton and Brooklyn with their Aunt Louise. It was a beautiful day in early August and we were happy to share the time together.

This week will mark one year of retirement for me and it seems the time just flies by too fast. I am enjoying this new lifestyle so much it is a wonder we didn't start sooner.
